stonecoldbass Posted September 10, 2012 Posted September 10, 2012 Hey guys, Been a big fan of Dane's playing since I saw him at the Victor Wooten clinic in Melbourne a few years back and then also saw him tearing it up at a jam session during the jazz fest. Here he is giving an absolute master class in soloing but keeping the pocket. And he's playing what looks like a Pino sig bass (might not be though) instead of his usual 'fusionesque' Pavel Custom. Utterly amazing I think! Quote
Guest Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Cheers for that, very enjoyable indeed....Phat !! Quote
risingson Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Dane is a really impressive player, he's one of the very very few bass players who can keep me interested in a bass solo for over 10 seconds! Quote
grahamd Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Yes very cool, but tasteful with it. Thanks fer that Quote
Bo0tsy Posted September 11, 2012 Posted September 11, 2012 Yes, some very nice tight playing there, some definite Tribe Called Quest'- 'Check the Rhime' going on in the mix too there. Quote
geoffbassist Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 Amazing. So well paced and compelling thoughout. Thanks for sharing. Quote
chardbass Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 It's pace and structure remind me a little of the solo on Everything is Everything. Quote
Guest Posted September 12, 2012 Posted September 12, 2012 (edited) I thought so too, the tone isn't that far away either considering the quality of the recording in the vid. Edited September 12, 2012 by kennyrodg Quote

Surely not ? Edited September 13, 2012 by kennyrodg Quote

I could be wrong, but Im pretty sure. I can't belive they could do that as its not to track and the tempos would have to be bang on. However I'm pretty sure that was the story. I will try and check the mag. Quote
