wateroftyne Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 (edited) Nice to see he's in a cantankerous mood. He's right. That genre plagarises itself left, right and centre, and has done for generations. It's nothing new. (sic) The album is great, btw. Edited September 13, 2012 by wateroftyne Quote
Happy Jack Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 About time this sort of thing was stopped. If I had my way, the only music we'd all be allowed to listen to would be original recordings by Robert Johnson plus anything by Anon or Trad. Quote
flyfisher Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 . . . . which is sort of what they do in the classical music world. Quote
Panamonte Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 As you can see from this longer excerpt from the RS interview the BBC held back from quoting him in full - good to see that he's not mellowing in his 8th decade! http://www.rollingstone.com/music/news/bob-dylan-strikes-back-at-critics-20120912?utm_source=dailynewsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=newsletter And yes, the new album is better than I expected - certainly better than his last one. In a simple twist of fate, the point of "escaping the delta" is that blues as slave work songs was a pure invention of folkies like Woody Guthrie and Pete Seeger, who of course tried to pull the plug on Dylan at Newport, and may well be the ones that called him Judas.
