There are many pre amp modules and pedals available; does any one know of a power amp which is smaller and cheaper than a rack space unit which could fit into to the proverbial 'gig bag'?

My line of thinking is that modern power amps in Bergantino / Mackie powered cabs and the Markbass range of heads are pretty small are these, or similar power units available separately?

Thanks

I'm in the process of building something like this for another member of this forum.
I will have a 400 Watt digital amp module and a switch mode power supply, all in a black anodised aluminium case 220 x 160 x 52 mm, for an all-up weight of around 1.5 - 2 kg.
If you're interested, send me a PM, and I'll keep you posted as the build progresses.

Would you mind doing a build diary for this?

Thanks - that's the ticket, its a bit pricey but indeed its what I was thinking about.

Alien what is a PM and how do I do it? (note my join date)

A PM is a private message. If you click on my name (above my avatar) you'll see a menu - one of these is a messaging service that allows you to talk to other members.

No worries. Probably won't be a lot to see though - one black box full of circuitry looks much like another :)

You could always get one of the new Ashdown Little Giants, the 1000 (2x500w) seems right up your street, and it's sub £400. That's if you want a full mini amp rather than just a power amp.
