BassTractor
Folks, Just having ordered a J neck - - cheaply I must add, seeing the amount of wood that is involved - - I'm getting cold feet because I never thought of the body required. What say you? best, bert Edited September 14, 2012 by BassTractor

Gust0o
If it's being built, is it not a case of "tough" as far as the maker is concerned? I don't know many places refund custom orders. What was the comment about the body?

cloudburst
This could be really cool. Forget the body - use the last few frets to mount the pickup and bridge. Makes Steinberger look hopelessly over engineered. Post pics. Get kudos from all of us. Job done. CB

BassTractor
Sorry to say I was taken in by the seller's description "replacement neck". Now I wasn't really gonna put it on an existing Jazz, but I thought I'd build a body out of a huge piece of old hardwood I still haven't used after decades. Should have seen the signs though. The neck pocket demands were actually precise and not hidden deeply in the text at all. My next project maybe.
carve it into a canoe!
Wow, that was the bestest idea I've ever heard! I could make myself another Greenland style sea kayak, 52-54cm wide and 26cm high. A bit low for most, but I do sit quite comfy in a low kayak. Thanks!
Hadn't even thought that far ahead, but now you write this, there is an avatar on BC with a grand 810. I'll contact the owner. He might take the phone up there. Edit: It's Barkin, and it's a 610 (yes, I know about scale math). Have a look: best, bert Edited September 14, 2012 by BassTractor

At least for a Jazz neck. That is what bothers me most. You specifically order a Jazz neck, and then this! I'm getting worried about technique here, cause I do prefer to place my thumb right on the skunk stripe whenever possible, and only move it up or down when required for demanding passages. best, bert
