garry warrington
Recently purchased an active yamaha TRB4 11(japan) previously been using passive basses for a more retro sound using Hartke 15s the sound seems a tad middy, tried the eq and it seems like a completely different instrument than what i am used to. been tring to achieve mor of a pattatuci ot nathan east sound Any thoughts on what i should try
xgsjx
My suggestion would be to find a shop that stocks a few different rigs & take your bass along. One person's perfect sound is another's worst. Patitucci uses Aguilar rigs & East uses TC Electronic rigs. I think both them use a Yamaha bass. So it's down to your budget & what you like. Both them also use pedals to further tailor their sound.
garry warrington
would you say ten inch cabs work better with this type of bass back in the 90s pattatuci and east were using different rigs
craigcapener
There is no best cab for any type of bass..its all down to how it sounds to you and weather you like it. Speaker size to me doesn't make a huge difference as each cab is designed to give a fairly even response. It's worth spending a good amount of time trying out different eq's on your amp and trying out other cabinets. Good tone doesn't come overnight
