markorbit Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 (edited) Been looking to try one myself for years if only to check out that power amp overdrive thing it has. If that works well then great. Even a decent youtube demo video would be nice but there's nothing useful. The fact that Ampeg aren't pushing the amp with demos would worry me. It seems overly expensive. Maybe the money is in the 2500 watts, Edited October 3, 2012 by markorbit Quote
BassPimp66 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Do you really need 2,500 watts? I played his little brother - the SVT-3, rated at 450 watts in to 4 ohms. I did a few gigs with this model. It does not feature the "power amp emulation", but it's a great sounding amp. And, powerful enough to rock a 4x10 at very loud volumes.... oh, and it's a LOT cheaper too. Quote
0175westwood29 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 i used to have the pro-6 and there was no way that it had 1100w at 4 ohms so im guessing the 8 wnt have 2500. on the flip side, never had a prob with the sound so i'd imagine it will sound awesome, but if the power input is the same as the 6 id be wary as my 6 did used to trip the mains in nearly every pub my old band used to play! was very annoying. andy Quote
