Stompbox Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 Hi, I had this date diaried & now I've looked on the 'net to see about getting tickets I'm not finding any information - has anyone else found more out about this event, or is it just not happening this year? Cheers, Stompbox. Quote
Silvia Bluejay Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 There appears to be a dormant presence on Twitter and a website with last year's info and a May 2012 reference. Sorry I can't be of any more help... http://www.bassday.co.uk/ Quote
daz Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 (edited) this is the email of the organizer: "] I have emailed him myself. Edited September 19, 2012 by daz Quote
4000 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I can't find anything either. I'll be interested to see what Stevie's reply is. Quote
BassBunny Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 (edited) I don't think it is going to happen. Drew from Manchester Bass Lounge has heard on the grapevine that it isn't going ahead this year. Edit: Just spotted Stevie has a Band Gig on 11th Nov, so looks unlikely. Stompbox Posted September 24, 2012 Author Posted September 24, 2012 OK - thanks for the info. Pity about that..... Quote
BassBunny Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Am going to see his band next week so will ask the quuestion. Quote
AndyTravis Posted September 24, 2012 Posted September 24, 2012 Normally i hear from Stevie when he's running around organising it way before the actual event. And this year i've heard nothing, seems like a no show this year, but hey, even Glastonbury takes a break the odd year... Quote
Doddy Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I'm guessing that the London Bass Show has hurt Bass Day somewhat? Quote
Rayman Posted October 14, 2012 Posted October 14, 2012 It's a shame if it's not happening, I really thought it was gathering pace, however I know that there's an awful amount of work involved in geting it on. Steve, Pris and Gary have to work very hard to make it happen, and I think we'd know by now if it was on. Quote
daz Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 tumbleweeds bounce slowly, down the deserted oxford road .............. Quote
BassBunny Posted November 1, 2012 Posted November 1, 2012 Didn't get a chance to go and see the Stevie Williams band as i picked a dep gig up, but was over at Manchester Bass Lounge a couple of weeks ago having a look at the new Gordon Smith "Gryphon" Bass and Nigel Clutterbuck was there. He confirmed that it isn't happening this year. Quote
EBS_freak Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 Thats a real loss for the bass playing community Quote
Machines Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012
I'm guessing that the London Bass Show has hurt Bass Day somewhat?
This. Last one I went to was 2010 I think and it wasn't bad, but the LBGS in 2011 totally outshone it unfortunately. It's a shame as it wasn't too big and was easy to get to unlike London, but alas it seems Stevie didn't want to compete with a 'big player' and I can't blame him. Quote
daz Posted November 2, 2012 Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) This is sad tidings for the Northern bass community. I only hope that we haven't seen the last of it. If Stevie needs volunteers to help with next years event, if there is one. I would be happy to help out, and Im sure many others would too. Unfortunately there is not much I could do except on a practical basis. Except maybe things like moving gear from a to b, help with transport, volunteers to help man desks etc.etc. All the really important stuff comes from Stevies contacts and long years on the bass and live music scene. Not sure I could be much help there, and not the sort of thing any old joe could step in and take over, even if they wanted to. It must be a mammoth task to put together. Maybe we never let him and the others know how much we appreciated the bass event and what it meant to us. Lets hope it rises anew next year. Edited November 2, 2012 by daz Quote
BassBunny Posted January 14, 2013 Posted January 14, 2013 Went to see Stevie last night at Bloom in Altrincham and had a chat about UK Bass Day. Bottom line is that he wanted a year off as he is putting an album of his "Most Wanted Band" together and needed to concentrate on that. He is looking at putting one on this year depending on who he can get to play. Quote
