dodge_bass Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 For sale is my French upright bass. Beautiful French instrument currently set up with orchestral strings. It has had a fair amount of repair work from when I bought it - small hole in side repaired, back plate put in, small split on front repaired. This is all documented and I have physical pictures of the work done too. Lovely slim neck and plays well - has been used for jazz as well but would require different strings and perhaps a set up too. I have had two separate valuations for this instrument which can be seen on request - one from Ed Smith (North East based luthier) and one from Helen Pegram at Tim Toft Violins - both reputable individuals. Price on request - PM me basically. [attachment=118498:IMG_0164.jpg] [attachment=118500:IMG_0166.jpg] [attachment=118501:IMG_0168.jpg] [attachment=118502:IMG_0173.jpg]
bassace Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 (edited) Why so coy about the price? Do tell. Edited September 16, 2012 by bassace
geoffbassist Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Beautiful instrument. What are the dimensions? Is it a D or Eb neck?
thisnameistaken Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 I think there's a rule that you must state a price to advertise here.
Mr Bassman Posted September 16, 2012 Posted September 16, 2012 Nice shape, nice flame, love the cello button, shame it's got a slim neck so I'm out. And there is a rule that you must state an asking price or post will be removed. Good luck with the sale anyway
dodge_bass Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 Ok hadn't clocked that re.price. I have a valuation for 12K and a valuation for 15K. In the current market I would accept 9K. Thanks Ian
hawkeshealey Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 looks like a quality bass at a very generous price. try finding this in a dealers under 10k. if i could afford it i'd be up to newcastle like a shot. have you tried musical chairs website?
daflewis Posted September 18, 2012 Posted September 18, 2012 +1 for musical chairs - it seems to be THE place for buying and selling "quality" instruments at the moment....
