Shire
For Sale - Musicman Sterling (USA) Afternoon all! I'm looking to find my Musicman Sterling a new home. I've owned it for 3 years (I think) but I just don't play it enough to warrant keeping it. I'm really a Precision man so this is just sitting on the rack not getting much love This is the Musicman Sterling, not to be confused with the cheaper 'Sterling by Musicman' basses. Here are a few pics: The overall condition is very good. I don't think there are any chips or dings (but I'll double check). I've tried to get some close up shots as you can see the grain through the purple finish, it really is quite stunning. I'm looking for £600 collected from Oxford or I'd be happy to deliver within 30 miles for petrol money. I've got a hard case (Stagg) in the loft that I can chuck in to sweeten the deal but you should only really see this as a freebe as I think a couple of the latches are knackered. warwickhunt
It never ceases to amaze me how cheap these Sterlings go for! They are a stonking bass and if I didn't already own two I'd have a punt on this one... in fact if this is an uber-light one then I might take this as well.
Hi Warwick, this one is pretty light. I can try and pop it on the scales this evening. I agree that the quality of them really is fantastic. I've always seen it as the Jazz bass of the musicman world with the Stingray being the Precision? I have no idea why they seem to command less money second hand than a Stingray though? Ashwood1985
I don't normally go in for the whole 'thats a lovely bass' thing without ever touching it, but that is rather stunning! A lucky new owner soon I'm sure!
Shire
Thanks Ash! Warwick, I just weighed the bass on my bathroom scales and by looking down and squinting it appears to be roughly 4kg
cocco
Is it black or purple?
Shire
Its purple. Here is a better pic of the grain showing through the finish: Edited September 20, 2012 by Shire
Ziphoblat
That's a sweet looking thing and I'm sorely tempted... sold a jazz recently so got the funds too. Unfortunately Oxford is a fair trek for me... shipping completely out of the question I suppose?
dave_bass5
This is lovely. Am i right in thinking the nut width is more Jazz than P? Would there be any possibility of posting it to London? I could get a train out to Oxford ( i dont drive) but thought i would ask. Cheers. Just having a but of a GAS attack at the moment. Ive wanted a Sterling for a while but never really considered one in this colour.

I said I'd take the neck off to post it but I's still rather it was picked up as I won't have much opportunity to get to the post office although I'll see what I can do
This is lovely. The train from Paddington takes an hour and I can meet you at the station and take you to my house to try it (its a 5 min drive) if thats more appealing? Or could just do the deal in the station car park (thats what I did with my last sale). Have a think about it

I dont have the funds for a week or so and im sure this will be gone by then, but if not ill try and sort something out. Of course i wouldn't expect you to hold it as this is just a GAS attack so i might come to my senses lol. Would you take PayPal? The reason i ask is i was planing on using a credit card to pay rather than cash. Cash would be a problem unless i can find some way of getting cash off the card first. Ashborygirl
Fantastic bargain, these are superb, superb basses & i agree that it's the Jazz to the Stingray's Precision. Seriously, someone needs to snap this up & now - well, either this or that butcherd Warwick .
