simonc61 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Mark King is playing/being interviewed on the One Show in the next half hour. Quote
MB1 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 MB1. Still Waiting! Unfortunately they've not said when he's on...and you've got to watch the rest of it! Quote
simonc61 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Sorry chaps/chappettes, didn't realise it was on for an hour - it's torture! I'm sure I wasn't hallucinating though when they mentioned him. Quote
BassBus Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 That's it! the world has come to an end. Mark King using a plectrum Quote
ScreencastTutor Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012
That's it! the world has come to an end. Mark King using a plectrum
He did? I thought it was thumb and index finger. Quote
Chris2112 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 That was very good. Nice little bass solo there. Quote
Johngh Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Thanks for the heads up on this, just managed to tune in just as his bit started. Quote
MB1 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 MB1. Nice Status! Reworking old level42 hits for the new tour? Vera Lynn? ...Cupcakes? ...WTF? Quote
simonc61 Posted September 19, 2012 Author Posted September 19, 2012 Nice Trace combo he had there. Quote
LemonCello Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Kingy did a lot to raise the profile of the humble bass and no doubt inspired a generation of old slappers! Good on 'im I reckon! LC Quote
ern500evo Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012
Nice Trace combo he had there.
Very nice, is he not using TC stuff anymore then? Quote
Chris2112 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012
Very nice, is he not using TC stuff anymore then?
It could be that the Trace Elliot amp was the only one they had to hand. Or his dalliance with TC could be like his brief flirtation with Eden amps. Quote
Longmayyourun Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Do you think there's a bass player on the production team at the one show? Last week Pino, this week Mark King - great stuff. And didn't they both come across as nice blokes? Quote
JohnFitzgerald Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Mark's a bit of a tart when it comes to amps. I did however feel a wee burst of pride to see him using a Trace. In fact, I made SWMBO pause the telly till I got my amp head out and held it up next to the telly. She pulled 'the face' - "yeah, he's using a Trace Elliot. Yes, I know you've got one too..." Amp sheepishly put away. Quote
crez5150 Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Let's hope Stuart Zender is on the cards ;o) Quote
dmz Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 Wasn't Jean-Jacques Burnel on a while back too talking about No More Heroes ? There must be a bass player on the production team. Sweepstake as to who will be next ? Quote

tonyf Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I saw it earlier and like others have mentioned, there seems to be a definite bass bias. Not bad for primetime TV. I'm no fanboy but MK came across as a genuine, funny and self-depreciating chap. He seemed like great company, he had the studio audience in the palm of his hand. Quote
He's been using TC gear recently, can't imagine they'd be too happy that one of their biggest endorsee's is on prime time tv with a trace amp right behind him! Quote
steve-soar Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 I would like to think they'd be cool about it. I love Mark King, BTW. Quote
bluesparky Posted September 19, 2012 Posted September 19, 2012 He's still using TC, it's spec'd on the riders when he isn't able to take his own stuff (whether the local supply companies can provide it is an entirely different issue). My guess is that Mark took only his bass and the BBC's production just sourced "a bass amp" and a TE amp arrived at the studio. Quote
