steve-bbb Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) P or J or nowt? for the purposes of this vote we shall assume stock items no sandbergs sadowskys or other gorgeous bespoke or boutique imitators thank you edit - for what my crappy ill informed opinions are worth im fully expecting this to end as a very near 50-50 split and if it deviates more than 55-45 i would be very surprised late late edit - assume that electricity is provided and there is one of every conceivable bass rig widely available to choose from so i guess the rigs you dont use you could fashion into a giant raft or treehouse or something Edited September 20, 2012 by steve-bbb Quote
charic Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 J basses are too skinny necked so P for me Quote
Johngh Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 P for me as it would come in handy for firewood ! Quote
steve-bbb Posted September 20, 2012 Author Posted September 20, 2012 (edited)
J basses are too skinny necked so P for me
i always used to look at them and think to myself 'that neck looks far too skinny it'll never play comfortably for me' but here i am 20 year later <3-ing my J and i find it quite comfortable - i find the bridge spacing more of a playability issue than the nut spacing and iirc the bridge spacing on P and J is the same - ed - fwiw i dont dislike either i rather like both immensely but the J has the edge for me Edited September 20, 2012 by steve-bbb Quote
charic Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Nah, I've tried them and they just don't suit me Quote

charic Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Nope, I have a P bass so nener nener Quote
Doddy Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Jazz Bass. More specifically.....My Jazz Bass. Although I'd have no problem with a Precision either. Quote
AntLockyer Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I voted P but in reality, either. Quote
Dr.Dave Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Thing about desert islands is there's nobdy there , so it'd be a Precision wothout doubt. If it was a funny desert island , though , where I was playing gigs in different bands - all playing different types of music - where versatility took priority over personal taste - I'd have a Jazz. BigRedX Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 There's more to life (and to bass) than Fenders. Quote

Silvia Bluejay Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 I'm ofFendered that there's no other choice. I would not want to go without a bass, then again, as someone suggested, taking your significant other would probably be an even better choice PS I did not vote! So there Quote
Hobbayne Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 (edited) A nice Y O B 1964 Precision. Of course I will need an amp and electricity!! Edited September 20, 2012 by Hobbayne Quote

Lozz196 Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Good `ole Precision for me - not many surprises there. Quote
yes but she comes with a P im afraid (i think the J comes with the brunette) Edited September 20, 2012 by steve-bbb Quote
Coilte Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Not really much use having either, as on a desert island there is nowhere to plug them in. So, I vote for a semi acoustic. Quote

Bassman Sam Posted September 20, 2012 Posted September 20, 2012 Gotta be a P, a J's skinny neck would break when used as a paddle. Quote
