bigsmokebass
Another new Gibson out, the Midtown standard bass. Like the guitar series it's a semi-hollow, electric bass featuring a full scale neck and both mini and max humbucker (exact from the SG bass range). A lot to read up on from the page but the array of finishes is pretty tasty as far as Gibson often give us bassists. Sunburst or red? Cosmo Valdemar
Hmmm... I do like it, but can't help thinking it looks out of proportion. I think the original larger EB body would suit it better.
bigsmokebass
It's the same with the midtown guitars they do, just a general flatter, thinner and I think, electric driven hollow body guitar as to what you mentioned. I know what you mean and yet I shallnt complain as I believe Gibson are trying their best to appeal to bassists and ill take my hat off to them for this as to the Flying V, LPJ an even the new 70's G3 (as apposed to a Standard model). basslowdown
Yeah the new Gibson stuff looks really interesting although I'd be interested to try the semi as I believe it's not a traditionally built semi rather more of a hollowed out solid guitar (a bit like the Rickenbacker semis?) More exciting is that the prices look much more realistic. The New 70s Tribute G3 bass is being advertised here http://www.rockpalace.com/en/product/Gibson-Grabber-G3-70s-Tribute-Satin-Honeyburst And unless I'm mistaken looks like it'll be less than £700!!! Whether that'll change when it's in stock I don't know?
hatori
Looks very nice, like the red one. They should re issue the EB3L...I had one in the 70's,wish id never sold it.
Lozz196
Do like those, very retro looking.

Gust0o
EB3L? Seconded!
BigRedX
Actually that doesn't look as bad as it sounded when I first heard they were going make a long-scale EB2. Pity when they were updating all the other aspects of the bass Gibson didn't think to add a 5-string version as well.
Dave Vader
pelham blue as well....
bigsmokebass
more than anything, i like the fact it will be a semi-hollow without a "Plus Top" and back like the Jack Cassady bass, that didn't sit well with my beer belly but like to see how this actually looks and feels in real life as to criticizing a picture XD EB3L? "L" for long scale, right? if so, i would LOVE one of them, current "SG" EB models are nice but too short for me BSB
hatori
Yep long scale with slotted headstock. Mine was 'tobacco' colour, played like a dream and sounded the bollox. So so wish id never got rid.
bigsmokebass
Saw a few pics on the interweb but didn't read anything "on what I did" on scale length +1 EB3L BSB
3below
I want one, now. The one bass I regret selling was my 58 EB2. The Precision I got to replace it was better, but this Gibbo has the 34" scale length. I want one now. Bass sales start soon.
yorks5stringer
I see they have done exactly what they did with the EB2 ( which had the same body as a 335) by basing it on the equivalent chambered Gibson guitar. Yep, I had a 62 EB2 in the late 70's and all I wanted to do was play funk, so it went for £120.......!
hatori
I do like the EB1 ..very Felix Papalardi, ive been looking for an Epiphone version to pimp. Sorry didnt mean to go off on a tangent, this thread got me all nostalgic and Gibsony.
Musicman20
Nice in Burst or Pelham Blue.
cocco
I love it too, just wish it had vol and tone for each pickup, on a purely aesthetic level though.

AndyTravis
Black is great for the hooky fans who can't afford an eccleshall... Think I'm debating the Pelham or Black.
cocco
I wonder how it stacks up against a Jack Casady though. I know the pickup config is different and one is US and one isn't but the JC is supposed to be a really good bass, both are semi hollow 34" 335 ish shaped lovelies. And the JC also looks great in black.
EssentialTension
These do look nice but I think I'd probably go for the cheaper semi-hollow Casady over the chambered Midtown.
brensabre79
Yes I'd be interested to see how this stacks up against the JC, there's quite a price difference!
