Bill
Hi Guys, I'm normally a 5-string player, but recently a friend of mine has lent me this 'HK' 7-string bass to play with (he's actually selling it!) i don't know too much about 7-string basses.. This one has Kent Armstrong pickups installed in it, and to be honest the tone is quite versatile! and fairly growly on the lower strings.. can anyone tell me more information on it, if they have heard of this brand of bass before? although i'm pretty sure they are budget versions of 7-string basses as the price for sale is £450.. Here is a clip i recorded today of me noodling/finding my way around it! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PxwChciHJKo Do you think i should buy it??? Thanks, Bill :-)
chrismuzz
I've seen a band where the bass player used one of these bad boys, and it sounded immmense through my Markbass rig! You play it like it was made for you too! I would go for it!
Bill
Thanks man.. i'm considering it! but would like to make the jump to a 6 string first rather than the 7 string.
Any particular reason, you seem to be doing incredibly well with this 7. It sounds good, if you like it, I'd go for it.
AttitudeCastle
There are a few threads on here about them and a couple people owned/own them Dread Bass has one, I'm in the market for a 7 string in the near future now, (or an 8) looking to tune F# to F on an 8 string. Been oohing and eering for ages but starting to feel now is the time (though my wallet disagrees!) German company, made in the east and shipped over, rather inconsistant quality from what I here. Same factory that supplies Woodo and similar companies, If I'm correct they are no longer produced as HK now deals with a different factory Edited September 23, 2012 by AttitudeCastle
AttitudeCastle
Also, you seem to be damn fine at the bass guitar!

They don't come about often so I reckon you should go for it for sure

chrismuzz
Sounds good! As long as you know we're all going to force you to buy the bass
Bill
Haha, maybe it's a good thing to have the nudge! :-)
Shockwave
The HK 7 String (The same one as in the video) I bought was really shoddily made and played poorly. Sounded nice but that was all I could really give you a positive on.
The Burpster
Cor blimey, saw the title of this thred and thought for a sec that Heckler & Koch had expanded their production base.....
Bill
Haha, I know right! As in the audio P.A company HK??
simwells
It's by Heke-Vertrieb not the PA audio company. If you've found a well made one then it will probably do you extremely well it's just their quality control is all over the place. They were selling these new for £320ish though so that price second hand seems a bit much.

Dr Chocolate
If I could play like that I'd buy it! I'm currently thinking of downgrading to a 3 string...
