Hohner B2A (Steinberger) year identification?

Hey all
Just picked this space ship of a guitar up at the weekend off eBay and I was wondering if anyone could help me date it.
Its a Hohner B2A that I was told from the seller was from early 1980s. As you can see its got a speckled silver finish to it (Like I'm looking up at the stars at night) and this looks pretty original enough as when I open the back plate the finish is the same in there too. I guess someone could have done it to it at some point in its life though as its missing the Hohner badge off the front.
I dont know much about these so I was wonder if there was anyone out there who did?

Great basses. I had one, a righty I played upside down, in about 1985. Sold it to raise funds for another bass.

I bought a real lefty version a few months ago, in mint condition and they are still cool basses.

I don't think that's the original finish mate, and it's the active version so it's probably 1990s

From what the guy who sold it me says he said its sat in his loft since since the 80s and I cant see why he'd lie about that.
