After listening to sabotage by the beastie boys and then exit music for a film by radiohead and loving the bass sound in both tunes to the point where i cant decide which one i prefer.. just wanted to gather some other fuzzy bass sound favourites from you guys :)

Two I've always loved:

The bass riff in Deeper Underground by Jamiroquai. (Unfortunately, I've no idea who the bassist is!)

Marco Hietala's (of Nightwish) tone.

You Me At Six - Loverboy, and Rorys tone on Get Off My Microphone by Boomin (Listen to the teaser of Track 2 on here). That album is full of phenomenal bass tones, plus myself (and about 10 or 12 others) doing the crowd vocals, and it's one of the few albums i've bought in a while that doesn't have a bad song.

Colin Greenwood used a Shin Ei Fuzz on 'Exit Music', Thom Yorke nicked it and used it later on 'The National Anthem' on Kid A as he was the one who ended up recording the bass part.

I really love the tone on Lenny Kravitz's 'Rock and Roll Is Dead', it's a really throaty drive that gets used on the bass part and it sounds really cool. Also love Black Rebel Motorcycle Club's 'Spread Your Love', there's probably quite a few others!

It was Stuart Zender originally until his parts got scrapped and replaced with synth bass.

Ah, so the sound on the record is actually a synth? Been a while since I've listened to it, but in that case I'm impressed by whoever played that synth. Not easy to imitate hammer-ons and slides on a keyboard.

Aye, it was Toby Smith on keys at that stage still, very talented, also played synth bass on 'Canned Heat'. Fallings out were had with Stuart Zender and he left (or was chucked out of?) the band. The original bass parts are floating around out there, I got to hear them a couple of years ago I think but I can't remember what they were like.

I think it's just an overdriven tube head, but it sounds ace.

Just found a good one on 'The Captain' by Biffy Clyro. Who knew?

A jazz bass through a Boss OD-B 3 overdrive pedal I think

Jon Stockman, Karnivool's bass player has one of my favourite distorted sounds. He's also a damn good bass player, some great bass parts in Simple Boy

This also sounds badass - awesome tune!

I also love the fact that the cowboy is so tough he doesn't nod in time with the music.

Not a track from Red, but a bit of live Crimson that really shows off Wetton's amazing tone - and what an incredible band they were.

Bass prominent at around 3:15.
