devinebass
Hey there guys... I've just put a brand new video lesson together for you. In this lesson I demonstrate an absolutely KILLER chromatic style lick... then I show you how you can start to expand on this idea by just moving the shape around in a chromatic fashion. Hope you enjoy it! Check it out here... http://scottsbasslessons.com/awesome-chromatic-lick Over and out, Scott.

Bilbo
I think it may be helpful to draw people's attention to the fact that the rhythmic placement of the sequence of descending licks is contributing to the 'out feel'. As the lick is based around three/six note licks, it always crosses the beat, thus adding to the tension. Sounds cool and that can also be used to create tension in a line (Jaco did this a lot). bottomfeed
Very Cool!.... I love these kinds of patterns ... I nicked a similar one from Alan Thompson (off a John Martyn live album) that was similar but with a flat fives diminished flavour.... I'll shamelessly nick this too, thanking you kindly Sir!
