I'd put an RBX180 (2 pickups) in against the GSR200. Both decent basses but i'd opt for the Yamaha as I know from experience they're cheap but not poorly made.

Well I'm a lefty also
So been watching a gsr200 on eBay and saw a rbx200 on cash converters lefty for slightly more but missing knobs and scratched
Got the gsr for 40 pounds in vgc..bargain or what...well chuffed just need practice amp now

Nice score! Can't go wrong with Ibanez. Is it one of the more recent ones with 4 knobs and active bass boost? They're great value, the electronics are simple but effective. The older passive ones are good too. And either way, at 40 Pounds you got one heck of a deal.

No three knobs has additional five way over drive whatever that means????

Both Yamaha and Ibanez punch above their weight even in the beginner area.
I'd personally go more towards the Yamaha as they tend to last and are more robust than an Ibanez but then again, Ibanez basses are usually sleeker.
That being said, both will play real well.

My 1st bass was a Yamaha RBX170. I ran it to the ground but I tell ya, with the pickups and 24 frets it did anything a 4-string can do and then some.
