oggiesnr Posted October 2, 2012 Posted October 2, 2012 Is it just me or is the second bassist (Rinat Ibragimov) using a german bow with a sort of French grip? Whatever, the results are absolutely stunning. Currently planning to go and see him and his daughter (a violinist) at Wimbledon in a few weeks time. Steve Quote
FLoydElgar Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Its a Baroque bow that stays within the correct time period of this piece! Quote

thisnameistaken Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I would love to be able to play like that. Must get back on with learning to read first though. :/ Quote
FLoydElgar Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Take your time and only ever look at new pieces... As that's sight reading at its purest. 10 mins each day will make a lot of difference! Everyday!!!! you will make around 87 hours worth of pure sight reading... read music whilst listening, read music as if you are reading a book! sing in your head, sing out loud! sit next to a piano sing a few notes before you play the notes! Use the Niel tarlton books!! Immerse yourself... Most important thing is to play music. Learn a sonata i.e Vivaldi's Cello sonata no 3 - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4WyHvZyczCc ABRSM do the complete cello sonata for db or you can probably find a pdf somewhere online alot cheaper!! MandShef Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Wonderful how they make the double bass sing! Right, off to practice now (and if I can make my pieces sound even half as good I'll be peased)!! Quote
