dave_bass5 Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 I'm sure it's fine but the ground wire is something I've never had to change before. I need a longer length than the piece I have in there now. I've looked around at home and can't find any spare wire and need to get some ASAP http://www.maplin.co.uk/equipment-wire-7-0.2-6192 Cheers. KiOgon Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 Hey Dave, PM your address & I'll send you a bit mate. Cheerz, John Quote
dave_bass5 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Cheers John, very, very kind of you but I need it tomorrow so will have to go and buy a lot more than I need by the looks of it. Quote
KiOgon Posted October 3, 2012 Posted October 3, 2012 OK the wire in the link is fine, in fact almost anything with a conductor will do, nothing specific, no current or voltage involved, worth considering. Cheerz, John Quote
dave_bass5 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Thanks John, that's what I was thinking. Looking at the bit I've taken out it does look very cheap and thin. Guess that's all that's needed. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted October 3, 2012 Author Posted October 3, 2012 Funny enough I've been in hospital getting a kidney stone removed today. It's amazing what they managed to get up me without making any new holes :-0 Quote

dave_bass5 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 Thanks. It all went well and hopefully in a few days once the soreness has gone ill be back to normal. Quote
BassBunny Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 Maplin sell most wire by the metre, but you won't find out which until you get in store. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 Thanks BB. I ended up getting way to much but it only cost me 99p from the bargain bucket so i cant complain. Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted October 4, 2012 Posted October 4, 2012 I started doing grounding wire in guitars with solid wire, from leftover bits of mains cable from sorting the house electrics. Means that if your pot nuts come loose, the hard wire soldered to it stops it rotating or falling inside, ditto with the jack socket. Quote
dave_bass5 Posted October 4, 2012 Author Posted October 4, 2012 This wire is to go in a P-Retro so i needed it longer than the stock length that just went to the old jack socket. Quote
