christhammer666 Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 hi guys been a while since posting hope everyone is fine and dandy. my band tune to either drop c or standard d. i have 2 boss tuners which tune both basses and guitars when i try and tune my bass both tuners take ages to pick up the signals from the strings and it goes from b straight to d and does not go to c even tuning to standard d takes ages even if i try to tune with the harmonics its a right ball ache.sometimes its taken me 15 minutes just to tune up i have tried 3 basses the intonation on my basses is great so i know that isnt the prob if i didnt have small hands id just buy a bloody 5er someone help for christs sake and save what sanity i have left Quote
lowdowner Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 tune on the harmonics? many tuners seem to have problems even with a standard E tuning (my planet waves tuner does). I usually tune on the 12th harmonic Quote
christhammer666 Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 ive even tried that both on 12th and the 5th. my friend has a pedal tuner which seems to work fine. but i want something small i can chuck in my gig not a big pedal and dont wanna fork out if i dont have to dont know if im just beiong a dick and doing something wrong Quote
rogerstodge Posted October 5, 2012 Posted October 5, 2012 I use a fender tuner/foot pedal, very good, maybe a bit too accurate but fits in my gig bag no probs Quote

christhammer666 Posted October 5, 2012 Author Posted October 5, 2012 thats looks great.nice and compact as well Quote
Ed_S Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 Most of my basses are down half a step (but used to be down a full step) and one is in C standard, so I know what you mean about cheap tuners not registering on the low notes. I find they're usually better if you have the option to take them off chromatic mode and tell them to listen for bass with a specific number of flats, but even then some don't work. Obviously the more professional pedal and rack tuners do their job, but in terms of small, lightweight and cheap, the only one I've never had any problems with is the Boss TU-80 tuner/metronome. paul torch Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 I sometimes tune down half a step and my old tuner had real problems with this. I got myself a Korg Pitchblack, fast and accurate. Quote
Adee Posted October 6, 2012 Posted October 6, 2012 What bass are you using? Stating the obvious ... but I will ... make sure your volume and tone is on full on the bass I use a Planet Waves CT-04 and find it amazing (best tuner I've ever used) and we play dropped 1/2 set and drop D no problem Quote
christhammer666 Posted October 6, 2012 Author Posted October 6, 2012 im using a ibanez sr300 mainly.reckon ill just have to go for a better quality tuner Quote
