Onboard pre amp

Has anybody tried this cheap Artec stuff thats on ebay. Tell me about it please.

I have tried them on a SGC Nanyo Bass Collection and also a Fender Precision Lyte that came with duff electrics. The Precision Lyte now has a J east preamp in it, as I couldn't get the sound I wanted out of the Artec one. I sold the SGC Nanyo because I couldn't get the sound I wanted out of it with or without the Artec preamp. I believe, in short, that you get what you pay for.

I have one in my Status Energy at the moment.

Works pretty well, really.

Doesn't colour the tone, cut/boost on mine is at 100hz and 4kz I think, but i have mine set flat as that sounds best to my ear.

Not much noise, good battery life.

Strikes me as a great value budget unit as long as you like the inherent sound of your instrument.

Having said that, I'm replacing it with an OBP1 because I don't want it to sound good, I want it to sound incredible!
