dincz Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 If you've got 20 minutes to spare, it might be interesting to find out how much better (?) bassists perform on this than the general public - although to be fair, there's probably a high proportion of show-off musicians who've taken the test so far. http://www.delosis.com/listening/home.html Quote
barkin Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Doesn't work for me. The first 30 are OK, then it hangs after the 1st part of the 1st pair of the 2nd 30 Quote
arthurhenry Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 28 and 29, with cbeebies in the background! Quote
TorturedSaints Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) 28/27 from me. From the discussion of results and Amusia after you complete the test, it seems that the average is approx 25/25, so speaking as a nerd, a lot of bass players would have to get very high scores to show a statistically significant difference from the 'general public'. Oopsdabassist Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 22 and 25, not as easy as I thought! Quote
gapiro Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 Appears the first part is tonality and the second part is rhythm? although i found it hard to concentrate after about 15 in the second part. Thank you for your participation. You scored 27 out of 30 on the first test and 26 out of 30 on the second test. Quote
jaydentaku Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 I got rather board after the 31 test, so I stopped. Quote

Oh, and that fake piano tone they use! Jeez, could they not have picked something more palatable to listen too? It just grates on my nerves. Quote
Earbrass Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 26 and 28 for me. That rubbish "piano(?)" sound starts to grate pretty quickly though - surely they could have found something better? Quote
Sub_Drop Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 25 for the first test and 26 for the second Quote
Dr M Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 27 and 25. Actually pretty pleased with that - I've always thought my 'ear' was a little bit on the dodgy side! Quote
bassfunk Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 27 and 29 for me, Interesting little test. I'd ask the wife to have a go if it wasn't so long! Quote

JustaBass Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 25 and 25 for me surprised thought i would do better interesting though i found the first part of each piece ok to remember but the trick was picking out the correct finish, that was my perception anyway. Quote
Dad3353 Posted October 9, 2012 Posted October 9, 2012 27 & 28, but then again, I'm more of a drummer... (I couldn't hear the bass line at all; my headphones, perhaps..? ) Quote
