Tell you what, in an effort to save your genitalia, I'll look after it for you and send pictures occasionally. It'll be like adopting a tiger or something. You can bask in the glow of ownership, be sent heartwarming stories and photos and Mrs Artisan is none the wiser. Sounds like a plan, waddya say? :P

Yes, you'll have to take the heat, and probably promise to do something for her, etc. But it is usually easier to obtain forgiveness after the fact than permission before the fact.

I can really relate to you on this subject. I've been doing that odd comment with my GF for some months about buying a new bass and being getting the same kind of reply regarding the numerous basses i own. On the beginning of September i went ahead and ordered this as a birthday present for myself:

I was quoted a 8 week waiting period for the build by Sandberg but their dealer called me this week saying that he already had the bass in the store (3 weeks before schedule) so i'm recieving it early next week and i haven't even thought about the way i'm going to break the news to her without causing the rise of the antichrist and thus the end of all mankind... yep, it's gonna be on 2012 all right!

Haha that did make me laugh

Nice bass though :) Have you another that looks sort of similar that you could hide in the wardrobe for a while so she doesn't notice? :P

Of course, your wife could be perfectly au-fai with basses and spot it immediately. Mine wouldn't be able to tell them apart if I got a new one as long as it was blue :)

lol i'm glad you guys have a similar problem to me :D

actually in all honesty she is really very good indeed, when i broke the news to her last night she just laughed with the comment "what a suprise" as if i've had loads of basses in the 23 years we've been together.
oh no sir not me
i've only had 30 to 40 or so

Nice bass! The neck on them is fantastic.

My wife think's she's keeping tabs on how many instruments I've got but she slipped up when she said "That's it, six is the absolute limit" - with an acoustic guitar, an electric and two basses, even counting my daughter's pink 3/4-size classical toy, I've still got space for another. :)

Of course she'll kill you, it's not a Fender....
[/quote]

Yep. Even for a Fender Jazz you should lose one "love-potato". But anything else, the lot has got to go.

just tell her that when you saw it its beauty reminded you of her and she will either go awwwwww and go all gushy or hit you over the head with something for saying she looks like a piece of wood! ;)

That bass scares me. It seems like the sort of thing a wife would kill you with.

The latest model from Sauron's Custom Basses, that well-known workshop on the slopes of Mount Doom?
