winterfire666
Xylem! If you mean on the basschat marketplace i think it would be that lovely hamer 12. Edited October 13, 2012 by winterfire666
Toasting
Yeah sorry the BC Marketplace. I'm looking to buy and am torn between a few. It's my step into a serious guitar and I'm not sure which way to turn
winterfire666
Are you after a 4, 5 or more? There are some seriously nice basses on there at the moment. Its gonna be a tough choice.
Toasting
I'm really looking at a 4. I've never played a 5, it's a temptation but I should stick with a 4 for my first step in GAS. I'm currently playing an Ibanez JetKing in a two-tone covers band, so anything would be a step up really. I'm seriously looking at the 62 Fender Jazz RI but just can't decide eeeekkk
Clarky
If you intend to keep to the ska/two-tone genre, Jamie, I am not sure a Jazz would cut through enough for you. A Precision or - if you want some active oomph - a Stingray might be better. If your budget is up to £500 this looks nice (although its not clear if its sold) http://basschat.co.uk/topic/186469-for-sale-fender-highway-one-precision-bass/page__p__1802189__hl__precision__fromsearch__1#entry1802189 And if more than £500, this is a beaut http://basschat.co.uk/topic/189166-2005-buttercream-ltd-ed-stingray/ as is this http://basschat.co.uk/topic/186667-for-sale-fender-american-standard-precision-bass/page__p__1831427__hl__precision__fromsearch__1#entry1831427
Donnyboy
I'll need to have a wee look later, but when I last looked(yesterday)there was plenty good stuff. I presume having the money isn't a consideration! Btw what's the Jetking like, I think they look pretty good
Clarky
For a non-traditional bass, this Warwick Corvette is stunningly good value at £350 http://basschat.co.uk/topic/188716-fs-1995-warwick-corvette-german-bubingawenge-l350/
Len_derby
Although I've got some nice basses they're all mass-produced instruments. So I'd like to buy something by a specialist low-volume luthier just to see how it would compare. The Fodera Imperial 5 Elite Spalted Maple on sale from LouLou might be a nice start. Lozz196
I think this Shuker PJ might get me tempted: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/188706-shuker-pj-custom/
Toasting
Thanks Clarky, yeah I am sticking with the two-tone band so I'll take your advice re: the Jazz. My budget is over the £500 threshold so I could bid for the Stingray or Precision. I'll take a serious look at both I guess. Donnyboy - for a cheap guitar; I think I paid about £160, the JetKing plays pretty good. I'm no expert at all but I've also got a squire P-bass and much prefer the JetKing. Thanks everyone else. It just goes to demonstrate the breadth of taste eh.
xilddx
I'd have that Stu Hamm Factor
redstriper
A new bass won't make you play any better. If you like the Jet King, keep it and play it - don't let GAS take over, it's a terminal illness with no happy end. I'd have the 62 Jazz BTW. Toasting
Hahaha I think I play ok but I find there's not so much clarity as I go further up the neck on the JetKing. I've had worse problems in my life than GAS so hopefully I can deal with it. (They all say that eh!). I've sent a PM for the Stingray
Roland Rock
This Magnatone is too cool for school. Love it... http://basschat.co.uk/topic/187304-original-1965-magnatone-hurricane-bass-l1700/
Donnyboy
There's 2 for me Paisley pattern '54 P bass http://basschat.co.u...reissue-p-bass/ not sure if I'd go off it but i find it strangely attractive!! Next one I love - but in such good condition for it's age I'd probably be nervous about causing damage!! Early JV Squier P bass http://basschat.co.u...20#entry1835192 Edited October 13, 2012 by Donnyboy
Truckstop
Yeah that lovely ACG with the nut piezo would be interesting to own. The Hagstrom Viking would be a nice addition to the collection too! Truckstop

iiipopes
I'd like Jerome Little to make me a bass from English Sycamore with a natural-to-blueburst, torzal 9-degree nut and 3-degree bridge, half-fanned from a square nut to a 34 1/4 inch B string to a 33 1/4 inch G string, the rest of the details would take up too much bandwidth if I set forth everything I would prefer, but with a fairly straightforward wiring to keep it simple for stage use. littleguitarworks.com A GUS bass would be nice as well. LiamPodmore
Any bass on the BC Marketplace? It would have to be TommyK's Sky Blue Stingray 5 for me. I've been gassing after that bass since he first posted it, but my wage doesn't allow for almost £1k spending on a bass unfortunately.
