overwaterstephen
(thanks to tayste and Laurence Blackadder for ID and background information) This is a passive Overwater Original Series bass that I bought in about 1988, second-hand from a music shop in South West London - I think I paid about £400 for it back then. It's a 34" scale instrument, through neck. Taking the cover off the electronic gubbins at the back yields little of great interest - the guitar does not have a serial number, just 4 pots, all of them in visually good nick, with all wiring between them sound. The guitar plays well with no evident flat spots, or noisiness on the pots or jack connector. At the moment it is strung with somewhat ancient (but very lightly played) Elites 40s. It doesn't have its original case, but lives in a Hamer case lined in nice fluffy material, which - naturally - would come with it. It's been played recently by a very competent bass player friend of mine, who is of the view that it's a fine instrument, in good nick, and I think he'd have it off me in a flash if he could afford it (he might yet!). General indications seem to be that £900 is not an unreasonable price to ask, so I'm going to put it out there for that. It lives in West Wales, which I realise is potentially a bit of a problem - I'm not quite sure what the Basschat protocol is as far as demoing/trying out instruments is, but certainly I would be happy to arrange a demo locally. More detailed photographs are available if you want them. Edited October 14, 2012 by overwaterstephen
