saw this fender precision on gumtree its a fake isnt it?

hi saw this on gumtree today a precision 62 he says with a 70s decal with contour body decal?

Well i've got a '73 and the decals don't look like that.

im under the impression only jazzes had the contour body decal

Looks to me like one of those limited edition Encores with the gold hardware. I posted some scans of a review a while back.

To me it looks early 80s (only due to tarnished formerly gold hardware), and a dip and strip job on the body.
It could be anything though.

Do you reckon he's hoping someone will offer more than the asking price?!

i think your spot on musky, because i actually own a encore ltd83 and apart from the string tree it looks exactly like it
and they just dont have the same colour as a 70s fender much paler

You're right. Precisions never had the contour body decal. It does look exactly like those limited edition Encores, which were decent basses, by the way. But not worth £500!
