TheGreek Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Back in the 80s I had a couple of these combos at different times - knew very little back then (some would say I still don't know much!!) but I was impressed by these lightweight combos with a 15" speaker. Because I'd had one before when I saw one come up in a shop locally (they'd taken it in P/X) I dived in..anybody else remember anything about these?? This one is actually the GB60 model - can't find out anything on t'net as the model no is used by a Chinese company...that saturates the search. I've emailed OHM and I'm waiting for their reply.. Quote
RhysP Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 We used to sell the Ohm range in the music shop I worked in in the early 80s. It was all really good quality kit - I used one of their 6x10 cabs with a Trace Elliot head for years. The little Tramp practice combos were good as well. Quote
2pods Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I had two of these. The one above, and then the later version with a built in compressor instead of the contour switch. It had a great sound, just wasn't loud enough, but the preamp out sorted that. The guy I sold mine to has still got them, and uses them in a small trio. I liked them. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 Don't remember the combo. However, the first 'proper' amp I had( which was a head amp / cab)was ohm 150 . The cab was huge.my cat used to sleep in it. The head was heavy.everytime I turned it on - bang! Anything past 2 , and the windows were shaking. Powerful. Had to offload it when I moved house ,) Quote
deepbass5 Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 My first Bass amp was the 130 with graphic and comp, very loud for the rated watts. worth noting Paul Westwood used the smaller one in his studio and for many of his recordings, which shocked me having parted with mine and been through several other amps on various GAS trips. Mudpup Posted October 17, 2012 Posted October 17, 2012 I had an Ohm combo back in the 80's - think it was a GE140 or something - and it was excellent. Really punchy with my Aria RSB Deluxe 2 bass. Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 I had an Ohm 130 head, picked it up broken on ebay to get a start on learning to fix amps, turned out to be a blown fuse, sold it to a BCer. Quote
99ster Posted October 18, 2012 Posted October 18, 2012 That brings back some great memories. My first 'good' amp was an Ohm combo - 60W, 15" speaker, the one with the built-in compressor... Used it for all sorts of things. Brilliant little combo. The build quality was really good. Quote
