Spike Vincent Posted December 2, 2012 Posted December 2, 2012
Well the Monotron appeals because of it's size and cost! I'll probably get one anyway seeing as they're so cheap and if it doesn't work I'll end up getting a Microkorg like I've wanted for years. Dont suppose you know of any other decent synths of a similar size? Truckstop
Gakken SX 150. Quote
Beer of the Bass Posted December 25, 2012 Posted December 25, 2012 It turns out Santa has brought me a Monotron Duo. It seems fun so far, and my 13 year old stepson has been having fun with it too. I've been annoying the household sitting on the sofa playing the riff from Cars and trying to do Sabbath's Who Are You. I think it'll be a fun noisemaker when combined with my tape echo... Quote
mcgraham Posted December 25, 2012 Author Posted December 25, 2012 Awesome. Plug it into the aux input on your lounge hifi and crank the bass - you'll have more fun! Quote
Spike Vincent Posted January 17, 2013 Posted January 17, 2013 Plug it into an Ampeg SVT with an 8 x 10 and you'll have a LOT more fun. Quote
mcgraham Posted January 17, 2013 Author Posted January 17, 2013 You have one of them in your lounge? Nice. Quote
Spike Vincent Posted January 27, 2013 Posted January 27, 2013 Alas,I'm only allowed a Trace Elliot 4 x 10 150w combo in the lounge... Quote
littlethoughts Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 I have the duo and I enjoy it a lot. I find it hard to do anything particularly expressive though. Does anything use a stylus with theirs? I've seen a few vids of people using them and it might make a bit of a difference. Quote
GarethFlatlands Posted January 30, 2013 Posted January 30, 2013 You seen the mods people are doing with theirs? Some are pretty impressive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dF8skIOXp24 Quote
Like most things, it just takes a bit of practice. Really tempted by the idea of using a photosensitive resistor to control cutoff frequency like in the video... very good idea. Quote
