I've come to the conclusion that I'm not a Stingray type of person. I love the simplicity of a volume/tone passive bass so I've decided to let my Stingray go. Made in 1990, this 2EQ Ray left the Californian factory resplendent in it's translucent blue-burst finish. Somewhere on it's journey, a previous owner felt it necessary to remove the original finish and paint it black. They did an awful job. When the bass came into my possession, the finish was dull, pock marked and had the texture of an orange peel.

I stripped the body back to bare wood, gave it an antique tint and clear coated it. The finish is pretty good with a decent shine to it, in keeping with it's age in my opinion. Someone with some 2000 grit wet and dry and cutting polish could probably get it even better.

It's 100% original apart from the finish, the black-white-black pickguard and for the fact that the pick-up has been rewound to original spec by Andy at Wizard Pick-ups because of a dead coil. During the rewind, I had Andy wire it with four tails so it would be possible for someone to fit a series/parallel/single-coil switch in the future if they wanted to. The original white-black-white pickguard (now a light cream colour) will be included in the sale.

It's a great player with great Mojo...control knobs starting to tarnish, sweep marks on the control plate, a small chip in the lacquer on the back of the neck plus a few very (very) minor dings on the headstock in keeping with a twenty year old bass.

Because of it's refin, I'm offering this up at £450 + shipping and it's worth every penny. There's no case but I am willing to travel a fair distance to meet with the buyer if my costs are covered or it will be very well protected for shipping
