4001?? made in 1998?

is this guy not selling a 4003 here? He has it listed as a 1998 4001, I thought they stopped making those about 1981?

Or am I wrong?

Not that I'm trying to defend him but there was a time when all Rickies with this body shape were called 4001's even though the name had been changed to 4003 years previously.

I even remember retailers displaying 4003's as 4001's for a while.

Mind you, this was about 25 years ago, lol

+1 lots of people just refer to them as 4001 even if they are another variant of the same shape. To be honest i don't really know the difference between them myself.
