Paul_C Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I'm gigging in a band playing mostly originals mixed with a few covers, Time Is Tight - Monkey Man - The Harder They Come are the current ones. Any suggestions for similar bouncy songs ? Quote

I'm loathe to try and identify exactly what's wanted, as people might throw in things I'd never consider, but those should give some idea. Quote

Get some Peter Tosh, Marley/ Wailers and Third World spinning and choose from that. Alternatively, mine the old Two Tone label's ska back catalogue. Just don't go down the road of Dave & Ansel Collins' "Monkey Spanner" ffs. Quote
Rich Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 As well as the 2Tone ska, it's worth checking out some of the originals too. The likes of Prince Buster, Laurel Aitken, The Upsetters, etc. Some truly fabulous skank to be had there! Quote
Huge Hands Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Check out the Skatalites stuff. We have done some of their versions of well known numbers. Quote
