JPJ
'Tis a thing of great beauty! What is the control layout going to be, I'm fascinated by the pots behind the bridge? Also, what a cracking job of the PRS style knob recesses, they are a bugger to do and get to look right imho!
Shockwave
Yup, it is looking great! As for the two other controls behind the bridge. Initially I was thinking a 2 way kill switch and a 3 way toggle control. The middle position allowing the blend on the ACG to work. However I was thinking maybe a 2 way switch active/passive with the 3 way selector as the passive circuit. However then I would need another volume control. So at the moment I am unsure. If I went for a three way selector switch for use on the ACG circuit, I would be worried about hitting the switch from the middle position mid performance. So might be worth fitting a rotary switch instead but I cannot find a 3 way rotary switch anywhere. Maybe go for a 5 way instead? Anyone have any suggestions what I can use those controls behind the bridge for? Edited March 17, 2014 by Shockwave
BigRedX
Shouldn't be a problem finding a suitable 3-way switch most rotary switches have a setting that lets you alter how many ways they go. I have 4-way switches on both my active Gus basses and on the Reverend Rumblefish.

How about using a Dimarzio Super switch, which is a rugged and shorter switch but still uses the 11mm hole already drilled. Coil tap two positions and leave the middle one as normal, then send the two separate pickup signals to the pre-amp? Leaving the two way to be a kill switch still. I cant use a pot in that hole because the hole is too big. Edited March 17, 2014 by Shockwave
JPJ
What about a mini-toggle switch mounted 'vertically' (i.e. up/down in the playing position), you'd be less likely to hit that mid gig? I've just fitted a custom U-Retro (active blend and same contour as J-Retro) to my Perception. The U Retro five knob comes with a passive tone which is in both the active and passive tone paths. I am amazed by how useful this is even when in active mode. It allows you to open up the sound a little more or darken it down with a twist of only one knob. I'm not sure if that's available on the ACG circuit but it might be worth considering?

However the hole we are filling is too big for any normal Pot. Only thing big enough is a 3 way switch. Hence the idea for Dimarzio Super Switch. JPJ
Can you not put a spacer in the hole? My U-Retro came supplied with little rubber 'o' rings for that purpose. I had to use them on one pot and they work a treat?
