Bass_In_Yer_Face
Just rediscovered 'Forget Me Nots' by Patrice Rushen (Still keep expecting Will Smith to rap over it) and discovered after a google search that a guy called Freddie Washington played on it. Anyone other suggestions that he played on as I can't the bass line out of my head at the moment!

bassicinstinct
He took over the bass chair from Tom Barney in Steely Dan and, as someone has also said, plays in the Donald Fagen band and features quite heavily on the Morph The Cat album. FWIW, Freddie Washington and Keith Carlock on Drums are a MONSTER rhythm section IMHO. They each always employ the principle that their playing should serve the song and NOT the other way around.

OF.... {a variety of jazz, R&B, and soul artists, including stints with fusion violinist Jean-Luc Ponty and drummer Billy Cobham; however, his most high-profile gig was with the rock band Journey, with whom he toured and recorded from 1983 to 1986. Since that time Jackson has either performed, recorded, or produced with a wide array of name artists, including Whitney Houston, Mariah Carey, Michael Bolton, Celine Dion, Madonna, and many others} FAME..... Sorry about that.... I would rather know him for the above..then the 'x Factor'.! Garry
bassicinstinct
To be fair, I'm probably thinking back to the Jackson Five days. I can just imagine Freddie doing Billie Jean, I must admit.
XB26354
Freddie was MJ's bass player on the HIStory tour (and Dangerous iirc). I saw a clinic with him at the Bass Centre back in the 90's where he slapped the bass part to Smooth Criminal, very, very tightly. Also sounded great just playing a line by himself. Saw him a few months ago at the Royal Albert Hall with Steely Dan. That guy has got serious groove and always swings
