Is this an Overwater Bass?

Folks,
I am thinking of bidding on this, but for some reason/intuition i have my doubts about the authenticity of it, any advice would be welcome.

Looks okay to me, but why not ask the seller for the serial number, and then email OW to verify?

I txted the number of the ad but they come back to say there was no serial number on the headstock or under the preamp cover where they are usually located. Thanks for your reply

I'd say it was an East J-Retro pre amp. Two switches and no LED. Different knobs too.

Not sure why but I feel the same about it as you.

When I see the type of wording used in this ad, I'm always suspicious, although I suppose it could be true. "don't know much about it, I just play my precision"

Generally but I guess not always, people who have four basses tend to know what they are about and how they function.


It might be genuine but if you are worried, then back away. I do, safe in the knowledge that there will be another one along at some point.

Maybe it's modded? Who would bother to copy an Overwater? Pretty sure that Laurence from OW (Bassadder here on BC IIRC) would know the skinny.

just on a side note thats a john east preamp (i have the same in my bass overwater do fit them into their basses sometimes)
