funkydoug Posted November 2, 2012 Share Posted November 2, 2012 (edited) hi Folks, this is my home brew bass that I've had and been playing for a few years now but due to a GAS attack its going up for sale. The headline news here is that its a Jazz body and Precision neck. Full details are: Off white (a.k.a vintage white, olympic white) contoured solid alder Jazz shaped body Wizard '84 Jazz pickups Gotoh hi-mass bridge Fender licensed one piece solid maple Precision neck with Truss rod. No logo. Fender pickups from a MIM precision Insulated control cavity Its got very good intonation (according to my Korg pitch black tuner) and no buzzes. If you try to make it buzz, then like every bass I've played you can succeed, but in normal playing its doesn't buzz. Action is average I'd say, maybe a tad higher than average but that suits me - easy to lower if you want to. Great bass to play and neck feels really good in the hand. The bad news: I realised while making this that woodwork is not my thing The neck - body join is not perfect. The screw holes fit very well and there is a nice tight join between the back of the neck and the 'plate' of the body where the screws press them together but there is a bit of a messy and imperfect join between the heel of the neck and the 'collar' of the body. I looked this up and most people think that this is not a problem and I certainly haven't had any problems with it. Plays great and sounds very good thanks to the great Wizard Pups.
