AndyBremner Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 (edited) Hello fellow Bassists, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction here. I am doing a cover of the Red Hot Chili Peppers jam in Argentina 1999. I am however stuck on one part, I can't translate this little part from guitar to bass. Flea is basically playing a long with John. E|---------------- B|-----5------3--- G|---5------4----- D|---------------- A|---------------- E|-5------3------- I know the rest, but what would that be on bass? Thanks!! OldG Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 they are partial A and G barre chords (in that order) Quote
andydye Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 (edited)
they are partial A and G barre chords (in that order)
Are they not more like bits of Am and C barre chords? The actual notes are A, C & E and G, B & D... Edited November 4, 2012 by andydye Quote

The first barre could be major or minor as written The second could be a C minor with G bass, maybe? Quote

Fixed now The notes played are the 1, 3, 5 triad for each chord aren't they? Edited November 4, 2012 by andydye Quote
OldG Posted November 4, 2012 Posted November 4, 2012 (edited) I just pcked up my guitar to check, and I'm now pretty sure its A (or more likely Am) and G major. Edited November 4, 2012 by OldG Quote

I reckon G B D is the Gmajor triad so I'm sticking with my original thought Quote

I posted this question on TalkBass.com and all I got was one reply saying "Figure it out yourself", obviously if I could figure it out myself I wouldn't ask, lol So it is A, C & E and G, B & D. ?
