Thanks guys. Actually the idea is to probably sell something off rather than buying more. Possibly building a studio in the basement. May need some cash... Heh. Also, a few of them are in need of getting electronics and whatnot fixed. So, I have stuff to do.

Just recently realised that the RB960 and the MC924 are like Yin and Yang to each other, visually at least.

Here is my lovely 1977 Ibanez silver series, one piece maple neck, skunk stripe, walnut plug 3 piece body and great jazz tone, only mod is a Badass and some long shaft reverse tuners. Bit of a rare model really as only made fro one year in this config. I have a few Jazz basses including an original 72 Fender Jazz ( Geddy lee blocks ) but this really does play better just not quite as thin a neck.

Already have a post in here showing off my Ibanez but I do love it. Madly in love with it's slim neck and somewhat entertained by its smooth sound. I was expecting a rough, ready for metal sound I don't know why, comes out with a lovely smooth tone. So nice.

I've posted this elsewhere but I guess it should be here too; I've recently pimped my stripped back GWB35

Hello there all,

I've just managed to get my grubby mitts on this lil beauty:

Looking at the original specs am I right in thinking I've got a BL-800 - Serial number F812701 so mid 1981 & it must have been refinished at some point because it wasn't originally available in this colour? If so I'm very tempted to take it back to the original wood but if it's an original colour then perhaps it would be criminal to change it now.

Tis a cracker & everything I've read & heard about them is true - a fantastic player with real grunt - a keeper!

Keep up the great work!

Thanks guys - seems the general consensus is to leave the colour as is - which I'm more than happy to do as it's lovely, I'm not a white plate kind of fella, so I'm having a play with different colour plates to bring the colour alive. Here's my current two favourite options:

Plus if any of you use Facebook there's some further designs here:

What do you think - 'classy' or 'retro'?

Again, just wondering - can anyone confirm if custom colours were originally offered, or was it just the two wood finishes?

The honest truth is that I bought it as I was curious because I've heard really good things about them, plus it just 'feels' right. However, according to Mrs TimAl apparently I already have far too many basses, ahem, so I'm happy to talk. I'm out jamming with some friends tonight so I'm going to give it a proper comparison against my early MIJ Fender P this evening to see which one I prefer, as I've now grown out of insisting that a P must be a Fender . . . LOL

Thanks & Happy Monday(s).
Tim

Might as well put up these two. Got them cheap enough, Ibanez are such an underrated brand for the quality of bass they make.

First up, a 1980 Roadster RS924. It needed a bit of work - fret levelling and the like and a sorely needed a good setup. The extra switch wasn't wired up to anything and someone had fooled around with the factory wiring too. I brought it back to factory spec, aside from using that extra switch as a serial/parallel selector for the bridge pickup. It's heavy, but it's worth it.

Next up, an 89 SR800LE I picked up recently. I'll need to do a little work on the frets soon but it's ok for now. I really like the Lo-Z pickups, It sounds quite like my Streamer, quite Warwick-growlish with a little extra low end.

I used to have a 94 SR1300PM which was in a sorry state when I picked it up. I spent a bit of time cleaning it up and it looked quite spectacular when I was done. I ended up selling it on as the wenge neck was too thin for me. Lovely looker, though.
