Clarky
I bought these strings a week ago as I have been experimenting with strings for my Kolstein travel bass. As solo strings, they are normally tuned A/E/B/F# but are often used by Latin bass players (and by Miroslav Vitous) down-tuned to the standard E/A/D/G as they become quite low tension (similar to Silver Slaps; see tension chart below). After initially feeling great, they loosened up and settled down and I find they are actually a bit too low tension for me (not helped by the fact the Kolstein travel bass has a relatively short scale length of 40", nealry 2" shorter than my full 3/4 flatback bass). I have replaced them with a set of Spiro Weich strings which seem to fit the Kolstein's shorter scale length rather better. So here is a set of strings that cost £138 last week at Stringmail (link below) and are in vgc (very minor fuzzing of silks at peg end - the unavoidable minor fuzzing that comes from installing once). FS at £95 or - preferably - trade for an equally very good condition set of Spiro 3/4 Weich http://www.stringmail.co.uk/dbass.htm Spirocore tension chart: http://www.talkbass....os-sets-724598/ Edited November 9, 2012 by Clarky
