tall_martin Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Hi, I bought an ashdown mag combo purely on the basis of how it sounded. I love it. http://www.ashdownmusic.com/bass/detail.asp?section=mag&ID=78 It wasn't loud enough on its own so I bought a second hand hartke XL 210. The combo proved a pain in the back to gig with so I took the amp out and built a box for it which changed the combo from a massive pain in the back to a pain in the back. I'd like some advice as to what to do with my slightly odd looking rig. a) Sell the ashdown as a combo - replace the speaker with another 210 xl, then what to replace the amp with? Sell the 210 speaker and keep the amp.- Will anyone buy the combo missing the amp out of it? c) Sell it all and start again with some thing lighter. In terms of music its our own inde songs and covers depending on where we play/ if its a paying gig. Advice welcome! Martin Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 (edited) Got a budget in mind? And what sorta sound are you going for? Best selling combo whole. Pair of 2x10s is a good start. Edit: check you like the sound of the 2x10 alone, as long as you do, all good. Edited November 12, 2012 by Mr. Foxen Quote
tall_martin Posted November 12, 2012 Author Posted November 12, 2012 I like the sound of the ashdown, Its just a pain lugging the cab about compared to the xl's. Budget, I might get £200 ish for the ashdown so idealy £0 extra outlay, could go to £200 if it was perfect. Quote
Mr. Foxen Posted November 12, 2012 Posted November 12, 2012 Can pick up MAG heads easy enough, if you keep an eye open. Bit of patience in lieu of outlay. Might get an ABM one if lucky. Quote
