Kala U Bass pickup- thoughts appreciated...

Hello Everyone,
I recently purchased a Kala fretless ubass (from Burg on here- a pleasure to deal with) and although I love the instrument, I'm a bit underwhelmed by the built in piezzo pickup.
Wondering if anyone has any tips to improve things, or thought on an alternative pickup?
