Jarhead Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 Hey guys, i'm looking at picking up a new amp soon, and there is one specifically that's caught my eye, which is the Marshall Super Bass. My main reason for this, is that Lemmy uses one, and god damn I want that distortion sound. Anyway, what I'm asking, is if there are any other amps similar to the Super Bass that i should look at, whether that be in terms of price, tone, weight, etc. Because I probably won't be picking one up for another month or so, so I've got a lot of time to consider my options. Beer of the Bass Posted November 13, 2012 Posted November 13, 2012 I've seen some positive reports on the Bugera 1960 for bass, although it's intended as a guitar amp. There are also a load of 1970s British valve amps which might do the job - many of them will be cleaner than the Marshall, but could be modified by a tech. Quote
Musky Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 The Zoom B series pedals have a Super Bass sim on them, so maybe one of those will hit the spot? I've no idea how good the sims are but plenty of people on here have the pedals. The cabs play a big part of Lemmy's sound, so might be worth bearing that in mind. Quote
The Dark Lord Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 Well - go get one. Marshall make these: http://www.marshallamps.com/downloads/files/Lemmy%20hbk%20Eng.pdf They are a custom build option. Marshall don't keep 'em in stock. They will make yours when you place your order, so there will be a lead time. I was quote about £1,400 for one a while back by my local Marshall stockist. Quote
bertbass Posted November 15, 2012 Posted November 15, 2012 If you want the Marshall sound, then it's got to be Marshall. Quote
