Which Fender Custom Shop Bass if Money Wasn't a Factor?

Ok, it's little bit exaggeration

the 64 was a great jazz bass (i played with many jazz bass US and the 64 was better, best finition, better wood), but this one is clearly a "luthier" jazz bass. the chosen woods are great and the difference with the team built, only one guy builds the bass. it's very to play with this jazz bass, and i'm very difficult to choose one. plugged in my hiwatt the sound is like i wanted since many years.

I'm not really a Fender fan but this bitsa bass is stunning.

That's really rather stunning. My CS would be almost identical. But then you could get it built by someone other than Fender for cheaper. :)

1960 stack knob Jazz Herbie Flowers model in Lake Placid Blue with Fiesta Red undercoat & heavy relic finish with a tort guard.

I think that is the most beautiful bass i've ever seen. And that's coming from someone who doesn't normally like relic'd basses.

I keep thinking about selling my one as the only Fender I play these days is my original '63. Of course, mine isn't a CS but it does have the LPB & FR undercoat, lol. Also has a brazilian rosewood board now which is lovely. Must take some new pics and add them to the old build thread!

A very wise decision. You don't want that tatty old thing cluttering up the place. :)

This was the last bass I owned before I had to give up playing due to RA. It was put together by our own cd_david for a Pink Floyd tribute band he played in. It was the best P- bass I ever played, better than my original '75 in the same colour. It now resides with bobpalt of this parish and I think he has added side LED's to it. I really miss this bass. :(

Not sure on full spec, but I'd have a Jazz.
Ash body
Stacked knobs
Lollipop reverse tuners
Maple neck with graphite reinforcement. With only side dots. No front face markers!
In Candy Apple Red
Matching headstock, naturally

I played a Jaco model Jazz and I sounded nothing like him. To make matters worse I didnt even look like him! I want my money back!

I feel your pain.

I went to Cafe Mozart once and had a go on the clavier and sounded more like Les Dawson. :)

How does this list sound. . .

'64 Jazz, Sonic blue, New Old Stock, white guard, rosewood board, matching headstock - basically the same as the one above!

'60 Jazz, three tone sunburst, mild relic, tort guard, stack knobs, rosewood board

'64 Jazz, Olympic white, mild relic, tort guard, matching headstock, rosewood board

'68 Jazz, 3TS, mild relic, tort guard, rosewood board with blocks (this may change to a '66 'transition')

'59 Precision, Lake Placid blue, mild relic

I know where these might be landing in a few months time (and it's not my house!) :)

If I was going to get a Fender Custom Shop bass made for me I would email them a link to this YT clip and tell them to Masterbuild me an exact copy of this bass , but with a quartersawn neck , a Badass bridge , lightweight tuners and easy truss rod access . It's a 73 Jazz and it belongs to the excellent Robin Everhart of Rival Sons :
