charic Posted January 15, 2013 Share Posted January 15, 2013 Ok just starting the listening throughs, I'll post up what I think as I listen to each (I probably post mostly what I find negative in each, mainly because I'm just jotting down what I think as I listen) : Comments added in the "spoiler" to avoid affecting other peoples listening experience [spoiler] Redstriper : The stereo spread on the keyboards is annoying the hell out of me. Sorry, but it is . The mix seems to be lacking a little in the top end in general. Otherwise a nice mix. ButlerK02 : Liking the effect added to the guitar in the background toward the beginning. Nice use of delay. Finding it a little odd the hi-hat being in the middle, infact is the whole drum kit panned central? Bit more of a driving feel to this one, maybe a touch "dry" in places maybe a touch of reverb would help. Removing the noise at the beginning and end might have been nice another good mix 5im0n : First thing I notice is the snare. It seems a little bit odd in the beginning but fits much nicer once the rest of the track kicks in also I would personally have it a bit lower in the mix. Liking the delay added to the vocals. Have you added some kind of "effect" to the bass? It sounds somehow different. Loving the effect at the end of the mix OldG : Is that a stereo spread added to the guitars? Seems a little odd in headphones. Infact, a lot seems to be moving around quite a bit. It's almost unsettling, some of the levels seem to change quite radically in places. Some interesting stuff going on with the drums in this one. RockfordStone : Another case of the hi-hat in the middle of the mix, still seems a little odd to me. Maybe that's just me though. Liking the rest of the panning and the levels are very well done for a slightly less "cluttered" feel in this one. Skol303 : There seems to be a lot of noise on this particular track? Oooh, lots of weird and wonderful effects going on Singers got a lot of presence in this particular one, maybe a touch to much treble though? The delay is maybe a touch too prominent although I like the idea. A very different take on the same idea lurksalot : This is a very different mix, although very bass heavy mix. Almost an underwater type feel to it? I quite like where you have put the keys in the mix. You've brought through a lot of the ring from the snare (which really was a git to work with wasn't it?!). A very hard job picking between them but the one that stuck out for me was butlerk02's for the extra "driving" feel he added to the song. Yet another reminder to check things before calling finished! Nevermind though, I have really enjoyed playing around with this and hearing others takes on it.
