stingrayPete1977 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 just bought a shuttle max 9.2 and got a great new band started, really excited then stuck my arm in an electric fan heater got a massive shock (ten times worse than any as a sparky for nearly 20 years) then smashed my wrist around inside until i managed to pull the fuse myself with my other hand! long and short ct scan next week to organise a plate and 2 bolts. gutted Quote
KiOgon Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 What a silly billy hope it mends quick & good, lesson learned? Every sympathy, best of luck, Cheerz. John Quote

Dingus Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 (edited) Just try and be thankful it wasn't worse ! That sounds as if it could have been a very serious accident . Hope all goes well with the scan ect. Edited November 17, 2012 by Dingus Quote
jaybass 70 Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 gutted for you dude, i broke my wrist earlier in the year and have 2 screws holding it together. I never thought it would be the same again but if your a good boy and do what the doctors tell you and do your phsio you will make a good recovery, its been 6 months since mine broke and it honestly feels as strong as it did before. Good Luck and don't despair, get well soon. Jason Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Cheers folks nice to hear some positive vibes Quote
Kiwi Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Good grief Pete!! Thats crazy! Hope you are comfortable and mend up soon. Quote
Highfox Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 FFS, Nightmare! Hope it heals quick and strong and your soon back at it. Quote
Clarky Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Yowza. Thats sounds horrid! Hope it sorts itself quickly. FWIW, I fell down some stairs two weeks before my first ever gig on double bass (a couple of years back) and broke two metacarpals and dislocated/broke two fingers. Perhaps rashly I took the bandages/strappings off and played the gig. It can be done! Bloody hurt afterwards mind ... Anyways, rest, anti-inflammatories, ice and strapping and your Stingray playing days should return quickly Quote
stu_g Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 its time off from bass playing but you can come back bionic!!! Quote
Doddy Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Bloody Hell Pete. Hope you can get back to playing soon. Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Crazy ain't it! I will tap out some rhythms Doddy Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted November 17, 2012 Author Posted November 17, 2012 Just want the op ASAP , was tomorrow but not going to be for a few days now Quote
oggiesnr Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Hope it heals quickly. Voice of experience (just "celebrated" the anniversary of my break) says "do the bloody exercises that the physios give you", seriously it'll pay in the long run. During my enforced silence I relearnt to play the moothie. Another alternative would be to start play a synth and keep playing all those bass lines. Steve Quote
Happy Jack Posted November 17, 2012 Posted November 17, 2012 Yikes - bloody awful news. Good luck mate. Quote
gary mac Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 made my toes curl reading your tale of woe. Wish you well matey. Quote
RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Seriously painful. Hope you get better soon. More time on Basschat then,) Quote
essexbasscat Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012
just bought a shuttle max 9.2 and got a great new band started, really excited then stuck my arm in an electric fan heater got a massive shock (ten times worse than any as a sparky for nearly 20 years) then smashed my wrist around inside until i managed to pull the fuse myself with my other hand! long and short ct scan next week to organise a plate and 2 bolts. gutted
It's a good story Pete, but come on, admit it. You dropped your wallet on your wrist didn't you ? Quote
the_skezz Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 Sorry to hear that Pete, good luck with the recovery. Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 Thanks again everyone, I was thinking about a bit of synth actually good idea There won't be much left in my wallet now 2 months on sick pay! I think I might be top poster on BassChat over the next few weeks Quote
mcnach Posted November 18, 2012 Posted November 18, 2012 ouch!! but glad that you are ok otherwise. I hope it doesn't take too long for you to recover... and like others said: (mum mode on) do your exercises as the physio says! (mum mode off) Hey, if you are afraid your preEB will suffer not being played while you recover, I'd be happy to sacrifice myself to help a friend and I would step in to make sure it gets some action Quote
stingrayPete1977 Posted November 18, 2012 Author Posted November 18, 2012 I'd be glad to let you have it until the cast is removed Jose, shame your so far away, is there anyway you could get it? Quote
