mattbass6
Hi gang, I hope all is well with you all? Does anyone have any information on the Fender Deluxe Zone Bass 5 string please? I have seen one and it looks interesting but I can only find very minimal information. If you own one or owned one, what are they like? What do they sound and play like? Are they reliable? If you sold yours, why? How would you compare them to other basses? Are they made in Mexico, the USA or both? How much were they new? Thanks so much and any help would just be brilliant? Take care. Cheers, Matt Edited November 21, 2012 by mattbass6

TheGreek
I had a 4 string a few years ago - there is info on the Talkbass forum which suggested that there were issues with the active circuitry which Fender couldn't resolve hence why they stopped manufacture. I didn't have problems with the one I had but because of the concerns raised I felt that I couldn't hold on to it..I think Bubinga5 also had one..try a PM for his opinion.. Paul S
I believe these were the successor to the Precision Lyte? MIM? IIRC they were generally held to be 'not as good' as the Lyte, which as MIJ and rather nice. I have a P Lyte and it is good. Not like a P-Bass or Jazz, very much its own thing soundwise. Active (I now have a J. East preamp in it which is the mutts nuts). Light as a feather - around 7.5lbs - very thin and narrow neck.
