oldslapper Posted November 19, 2012 Posted November 19, 2012 (edited) MIJ Levinson Blade B4 Jazz Bass. Made in 1991. SOLD John Edited December 1, 2012 by oldslapper
jimbobothy Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 Nice jazz there and I know what you mean by not really holding their value, as the spec is very nice. Anyhow bump on me!
RhysP Posted November 20, 2012 Posted November 20, 2012 I think this is my old Levinson - it was my my main bass for 20 years & it's superb, only got rid of it because I ended up finding the jazz profile neck too narrow for my tastes. (BTW, if it is mine it's older than 1991 - I bought it new from the Bass Centre in Wapping the same day I went to see REM at Hammersmith Odeon on the Green tour & that was 1989).
oldslapper Posted November 20, 2012 Author Posted November 20, 2012 Hi Rhys, thanks for the post. According to a message from Blade, the serial number dates it to '91 I did have one before this, which I bought on BC, same colour, might have been that one? Thanks Jim, yup up there easily with MIJ Fenders build quality, with better spec too. John
oldslapper Posted November 22, 2012 Author Posted November 22, 2012 (edited) Still here. Your inexpensive P bass, + £cash (min £250) for this lovely Jazz. Will consider px with a Parlour Acoustc with less, or no cash for right guitar. Edited November 22, 2012 by oldslapper

Never known a bad Yamaha. Like Blades, they are underrated, except for owners. I'm probably gonna be told I'm mad, but I'm really after something simple like a passive P. Also, I have a minimum cash limit I need for my parlour. John
bassjamm Posted November 22, 2012 Posted November 22, 2012 Hi pal...really taken with this bass, looks lovely. Hard question this (apologies for that), but tonally, is it quite pokey and barky with a fair punch, or more of a smoother deeper low end sort of vibe? Thanks

Thanks [/quote] Ooh blimey, ermm........rear pup solo'd think Bernard Edwards, front pup solo'd think P bass, but rounder/smoother. But that's just how I've set the 3 band mini pots inside the cavity. You could pretty much dial whatever you like I guess? I have it dialled mid scooped, but that's my taste. Hope that helps. Happy to post some sound clips/YouTube vids.

oldslapper Posted November 27, 2012 Author Posted November 27, 2012 Lots of interest, but still here.
LukeFRC Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 Does this Levinson also recommend statutory underpinning? (bad joke bump)
Pinball Posted December 1, 2012 Posted December 1, 2012 I played this one, its a bit special in my opinion!
