Telebass
Greetings one and all! I've had one of these for ages. because they detach from the handle to fit an electric drill/screwdriver, they are easily the best winder. They are also the only winder I've found that really does fit a Fender bass machine head. However, they are singularly hard to get here in the UK. All the Dunlop distributors have them as 'discontiued'. Over the pond, the story is slightly different. If you buy bits from Stew-Mac, they have both colours (black and glow-in-the-dark). I have a blck one, so I ordered a glowing one! Plainly, unless you simply MUST have a glowing string winder, it works out a bit pricy with the postage, but if you order a few bits and bobs that HMRC are not going to get excited about along with it, it's not too bad. Stew-Mac are also the only place I've been able to get hold of proper Fender type string retainers. Happy winding! Dood
Ahhhh yes! I have a turbo-winder. Mine is an old style one, doesn't look as good - but with an electric screwdriver attached, it has saved me many many hours of string changing I am sure! I used to do three headed six string basses, a seven string and two four strings at a time!

Telebass
Excellent! Strangely enough, I just ordered some D'Addario acoustic string for the setup jobs, and the three-set pack had a free basic Planet Waves winder in it - and that can also, just, handle elephant ears. Bonus!
