Hello All, If anyone has the time and greater knowledge than me (tbh it would be hard to have less) to have a look at this Precision for sale, it looks about right, but to me the neck is 'too' new, surely the front of the headstock would be a much darker browny colour. Attached pic not shown on ebay also available, but I cant seem to upload it, aaagghhhh. (ps If anyone can give me a clue how to do it, it would be much appreciated, I have tried using basic and flash uploader, just says no file selected.) Pictures look okay but I'd want a full length picture of the neck from both sides in order to see the wear and tear, or lack thereof.

I always hate that 'last of the good ones' rubbish. I think it is only allowable when referring to pre CBS Fenders, which this is not. Even with that in mind, there are gems and dogs in every Fender era. Hence why I would never buy a Fender, new or old, without playing it first.

I think that the price is a bit steep for an all original as P basses are generally not as sought after and as valuable as Jazzes.

Neck looks fine to me. I have a '68 Telecaster neck thats much 'cleaner' than this (Pics below). Don't be put off by the fact somethings been looked after. If its been in a case when not played, and not played that often, it should be clean.
The one you refer looks fine, and price is about right for a nice example.

Here's my '68.

Just for general information, during that period the front of the headstocks routinely lookdarker than the rest of the neck as the finish was different on the front, due to the newer poly finishes reacting with the decals, apparently, when they were moved to under the finish rather than over. The poly on the back remains quite bright with age while the front darkens more or less considerably depending on exposure to light and the particular instrument.
