@bubinga5 good points. Funk is feel thing.

Funk is a radio and we all choose to tune in to our favourite stations. For me it’s the heavier, more psychedelic sounds of P-Funk and Prince. Respect to James Brown and Earth Wind and Fire but I’ll never listen to them.

And I can’t stand Prince or P-Funk so the world evens out!

There was a list of funk tracks created by a former BC member. Worth searching for as it is a very long list!

It's the funk that influenced my decision to play bass. I may well know most of those tracks on that list you mention 😊

Interesting seeing as James Brown is seen as the main force behind what came to be known as funk. Apparently Cold Sweat was the first funk tune. Not my words however.

I used to listen to a lot of James brown then I read more about his background and behaviour and realised he wasn’t nice enough to take any of my hard-earned

You would be shocked if you could peek into the private lives of most people we call celebrities.

My wife was a huge Johnny Depp fan until it transpired he hits women. Sean Connery was known for it too.

Also bear in mind that none of us has any control over our background. We're born into whatever circumstances exist at that time.

You're good enough to play whatever inspires you with the right measure of enthusiasm and practice I think.

Yeah

I jumped in and played along with zombie (acoustic) very badly and the hostess “was enjoying so much she forgot to record it”.

He beat tammi Terrell (ain’t nothing like the real thing, with Marvin gaye) so badly that she was hospitalised. eerie echoes of my late father who was a total Cnut

I’m not shocked. More despondent. I come from that world (as a child) I’ve never hit any woman ever, I’m proud to say. Not that it’s “an achievement” but I’m proud to say that whatever hits I take personally history is absolutely not going to repeat

Although some say it’s Hercules by Aaron Neville. Cracking bassline!

I have to admit I've never heard that claim before. Hercules is from 1973 which is 6 years younger than Cold Sweat so I honestly doubt that. Cracking bassline for sure though.
