I Got You is structurally a 12 bar blues and apparently the funk style was still in development at that time. Cold Sweat shunned traditional chord changes apart from the bridge section and was a "watershed" moment in the movement. Some say I Got You and others say Cold Sweat. I heard it was Cold Sweat from a James Brown documentary. Either way I'm just glad it happened.

Shockeroo, i was in a 7 piece " funk " outfit about 4 years ago, and it was probably the best time ive had in any band.  And yes, we covered James Brown's  ' Get Up '

Well, the whole song title is  Get Up (I Feel Like Being a) Sex Machine.  To be accurate.

 

But who the funk wants to type that out
